Trump to announce decision on Jerusalem
According to the White House spokesman on the 5th, US President Trump will deliver a speech on the 6th local time to announce his decision on Jerusalem.
The United States will start the process of embassy relocation in Israel.
Trump will recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel on the 6th, and order the State Council to start the process of "moving the American Embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem".
These officials also said that due to the lack of safe embassy buildings in Jerusalem, it will take a long time to complete the relocation, so Trump will still sign a delay order to keep the US Embassy in Israel in Tel Aviv for another six months.
In 1995, the US Congress passed the "Jerusalem Embassy Act", which recognized Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, and requested the government to move the embassy to Jerusalem before May 31, 1999. However, the President was allowed to postpone the move for the sake of national security interests, and must inform Congress every six months. The 4th is the expiration date of Trump’s last signing of the delay order.
