Wang Wenming’s works

Wang Wenming, 67, came to Heilongjiang Experimental Middle School in 2019 and became a security guard. Wang Wenming loves calligraphy, is a member of Calligraphers Association, and his works have won many awards. He is called "sweeping monk" on campus. On January 15th, Wang Wenming told the Beijing Youth Daily reporter that calligraphy is his hobby, and he usually practices it by himself without systematic study. Before the Spring Festival this year, Wang Wenming wrote several pairs of Spring Festival couplets and hung them on the door of the school security room.
Wang Wenming told the reporter of Beiqing Daily that after working as a security guard, he often picked up his hobbies and wrote a few strokes. Wang Wenming said that he is actually just a farmer. He used to make a living by farming. "He basically does farm work in summer and sometimes comes out to find some jobs in winter." Wang Wenming loved calligraphy when he was young. "It’s a copybook. Without the teacher’s teaching, I read the copybook myself."
With Wang Wenming’s persistent practice, his works have won many awards. Wang Wenming said that his calligraphy works won the silver prize of China Contemporary Calligraphy and Painting Art Exhibition at the APEC Summit in Beijing in 2014; Won the Excellence Award in the calligraphy exhibition of "Celebrating the 40th Anniversary of Reform and Opening-up" organized by the Calligraphy and Painting Research Association of Old Cadres in Heilongjiang Province; He won the gold medal in the calligraphy and painting exhibition of "Commemorating the 70th Anniversary of the Victory of the Anti-Fascist War" in Harbin. At the same time, Wang Wenming also joined the calligraphers’ association of provinces and cities, and concurrently served as the dean of a painting and calligraphy institute in Harbin.
In addition to his job, Wang Wenming will also take time to take students. "Generally, they are teenagers and go to junior high school."
Before the Spring Festival this year, Wang Wenming had written several pairs of Spring Festival couplets, one of which was hung on the door of the security room, and some teachers in the school asked Wang Wenming to write.
Talking about his personal experience becoming popular on the Internet and being called "sweeping monk", Wang Wenming said that he didn’t feel anything. Calligraphy was slowly practiced by himself. "They are all hobbies, entertaining themselves, and at the same time cultivating sentiment."
